Vacancies in the Engineering Department at Go North West

We're currently recruiting for a variety of Engineering roles within Go North West's Queens Road bus depot.

PCV Fitter/Mechanics

We are currently looking for PCV Fitters/Mechanics to join our Queens Road engineering team. 

The purpose of this role is to effectively diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing and parts replacement in accordance with all engineering procedures and DVSA requirements

We are looking for people with a positive 'can do' attitude, and an ability to work efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.

A PCV Licence (Preferable). If you don’t have this, you must be in a possession of a full car licence and be prepared to undertake further driver training if not in possession of a PCV licence.

You will also need a relevant level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent i.e. (City & Guilds level 1&2).

 

Shift Bodymaker/ Coachbuilder

We are currently looking for Shift Bodymakers/ Coachbuilders to join our Queens Road engineering team.

The purpose of this role is to undertake the repair and maintenance of vehicle bodywork, carry out routine bodywork inspections and servicing in accordance with engineering procedures and DVSA requirements.

We are looking for people with a positive 'can do' attitude, and an ability to work efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.

You will need a relevant level 3 NVQ standard (or equivalent).

Welding experience is preferable, and you must be in possession of, or capable of obtaining a full PCV licence and forklift truck licence, if required.

We are also looking for Engineering Apprentices

We will be running over 160 buses from our new site in Manchester and are looking for individuals who want to develop a career in automotive maintenance.

If you are motivated and have the desire and ability to learn and understand complex mechanical and electrical engineering systems, you may be just who we are looking for.

Additionally, you will attend training at college on either day release or residential block release to enable you to achieve a Mechanical/Electrical Level 3 Apprenticeship in Bus and Coach Engineering Maintenance.  

On completion of the apprenticeship you will be a qualified Engineer and we hope that opportunities will exist for you to build a successful career with Go North West. 

Entry requirements

We look for motivated individuals who want to learn and have a passion for the automotive industry. 

All applicants will go through a robust selection process, including testing and interviews before being offered a position on our apprenticeship scheme.

Driving requirements

Successful applicants who do not already hold a valid Full UK driving licence will be required to pass a driving test before the end of their second year and to hold a PCV licence, for which full training will be provided, by the end of the third year.
