From Saturday 31 October, we’re really sorry that we will no longer be able to take contactless payments for ‘ITSO’ smartcard tickets sold on our buses.
We’re temporarily withdrawing the contactless payment option on smartcard tickets due to organised criminal activity within Greater Manchester, which is generating widespread fraudulent transactions across all of the bus operators in our city.
You’ll still be able to buy smartcard tickets on our buses, but you’ll need to pay with cash for the time being. You’ll need to make sure you have the right amount of money for your ticket, as our drivers no longer carry change.
You’ll still be able to pay with contactless for any tickets which don’t need to be loaded onto a smartcard - and don’t forget, you can buy our whole range of Go North West tickets on our app. Just search for ‘Go North West’ in the App Store and Play Store. There's also the option to load products onto your smartcard at PayPoint outlets.
We’re working with the relevant authorities to resolve the issue, and hope to reinstate contactless payment facilities for smartcard tickets as soon as possible.
